How to avert crisis in software development projects

Being a software development team leader or project manager is no doubt a difficult job, even more so if you are the CEO of a software development company. No matter what role you have to fill, the information below may prove to be very important and it may save you a lot of hassle on the long run.
The Software Development process is a complex and intricate one which puts the programmers and designers through many phases and stretches endurance and intellect to the limits. Add some demanding and eager clients on top of it and you’ve got yourself a recipe for potential software development disaster. This is why it’s vital to have the know-how necessary in order to stop any type of crisis in its infancy. Below are some of the most important things to keep in mind for this purpose.

First of all, the most important thing that you need to assure for your software development process is proper communication with your clients. This can be pretty hard to achieve but it goes a very long way. If you are honest about your software development needs and about your advances or setbacks, almost any crisis can be averted from its infancy.

This pretty much goes hand in hand with the one above, proper communication being almost dependent on transparency. No doubt, you can achieve good communication even without transparency but it will never be as effective. Also, making sure that your client knows everything about the software development process is a surefire way to always be up-to-date with all his desires.

Crisis Simulation
If a software development crisis looks imminent, there is nothing that does a better job at saving the day than prior experience and preparation. This is why it is essential to run emergency drills from time to time in order to make sure that the company is always prepared for the worst. This might not mean that you will be able to completely avert a crisis but it will however aid you in reducing the damage done significantly.
Unfortunately, few software development companies choose to do this. Most are just focused on the next big thing on how to increase profits leaving crisis preparation completely out of their view. This is truly unfortunate as this can pay off huge on the long run.
