Facebook Marketing DON’Ts
So, last week we’ve seen the good but now it’s time for the bad and the downright ugly. Hide your kids, hide your wife and hide your husband because it’s time for the Facebook Marketing DON’Ts.
1. Don’t focus on fan acquisition only through Fangates.
While it is absolutely mandatory for your Facebook CMS page to be a Fangate so that your visitors will see its content only after pressing the “Like” button, make sure you also give them reasons to do it in the first place, and to also spread the word around about it.
I have personally “Unliked” pages on Facebook if after some time I’ve decided that there was no reason for them to stay in my “Likes” list. As a general rule, quality engagement and content will increase your Fan base faster and with long lasting results.
2. Don’t let tumbleweed blow through your Facebook Page
This one is even worse than boring content. After all, even bad fan engagement is better than no fan engagement at all. Thus, make sure you post on your business page regularly so that your fans don’t forget your brand completely.
Also, another reason to post regularly on your Facebook CMS page is to make sure that you increase your Edgerank and that you keep it high. For those of you that don’t know what the Edgerank is, it’s the algorithm used by Facebook to decide which posts are displayed on the News Feed and how high they’re placed.
3. Don’t be afraid to get personal with your Fans
Although most of us are inclined to keep it strictly professional when it comes to our Facebook Business Page, this isn’t always the best way to go about it. You can be sure that if you engage your fans on a more personal level, they won’t forget about your brand easily.
This can be done by asking various questions and encouraging your fans to speak out and give personal opinions and also share their past experiences. It’s important to make them feel that they’re part of something.
4. Don’t forget your Custom Tabs
This is a simple and effective advice. After the Timeline implementation Facebook users can customize the tabs below the cover photo on their business page exactly how they see fit. This gives you the opportunity to advertise your free content, share YouTube Videos and even use Facebook Apps.
5. Don’t forget about Facebook Apps
